It has been a long time since I contributed an entry to my ongoing series The Library Stack.

I took a hiatus from slogging home huge piles of books from my beloved Public Library and cozying up with a pot of tea. Instead I’ve been reading from my collection of craft magazines and books with my pot of tea.

But I could not stay away too long from my library and recently I slogged home a new pile of borrowed tomes:

Novel Interiors

I’ve greatly enjoyed one of the books in the stack so far – Novel Interiors: Living in Enchanted Rooms Inspired by Literature, by Lisa Borgnes Giramonti (2014).

Yes this morning, I am enjoying the comfort of reading with my pot of tea in my cottage (we nicknamed our 1300 square foot abode “The Cottage”)!

Postscript

After going to the Deschutes County Fair (see post Deschutes County Fair) and finishing 3 of my 4 crafting project laid out in my studio, I thought I might revisit my Farm Girl Vintage blocks again. I  put them all up on the design wall in the hallway:

But I am just not “feeling them” right now and I am going to take them back down. Watch for a future post to see what I’ve stuck up on the design wall instead!

Speaking of “Farm Girl” my little farm (backyard raised bed garden) had the most curious harvest: ONE zucchini. Yes you read correctly – only ONE zucchini. I might be the first person in history to have just ONE zucchini in their zucchini harvest.

Usually people are trying to give away their zucchini harvest (a friend told me story of “zucchini drive-bys” where you drop bags of zucchini at the front porches of unsuspecting friends and neighbors) and I have only ONE.

So what did I do with my ONE zucchini (yes there are no more zucchinis on the horizon in my garden, I checked 4-5 times) – well, I made two loaves of zucchini bread!

  1. Zuccini. One year we had too many so we planted fewer the next and, like you,, got only one zuke. Can’t win with them! I like them a lot at the beginning of the season.

    My library stack looks puny after seeing yours: two books. 🙂

  3. I think you had the perfect zucchini crop. I do love it, use it, all year round. But they are plentiful and not expensive at the store, too. 🙂

    I’m pretty sure I bought the Art Quilt Maps for my guild library. Let me know what you think of it. (It’s been a couple of years since I was on library committee.)

I am glad you were able to grow at least ONE.. my poor plant got 5 leaves on it .. then it would flower.. then the flower would fall off… then it would get a nother flower.. then fall off.. it repeated this cycle probably 6 times. I decided lol I just dont have that kinda green thumb!!!!! You bread looks YUMMY! =)

    1. Thanks for your comment and I do not have a green thumb either, I just garden-by-luck. The funny thing is when I lived in Seattle, WA and you could just throw something towards the ground and it would grow (quite fertile there with all the rain) I was not into gardening. Now that I live in lava-rock land with a short seasib and dry and crappy soil, I seem to want to garden. I guess I needed a challenge, ha!

  6. Love the library stack and honestly I’ve been wondering about it. I know you’ve been whipping out the projects though so I guess you are excused. LOL. I LOVE the Farm Girl blocks, but if you aren’t feeling it, you will need to work on something else for awhile…like say, reading. LOL! Sorry about the one zucchini, but the bread must have been extra special!

    1. Thanks and I missed by stack though I was trying to be good and read what I had. Plus I have to stay away for a while so they can build up new books I have not “stacked” yet – ha! Thanks on the Farm Girl – I know I will return to them someday 🙂

    1. Thanks for your comments and I have to say it is a wonderful and very low cost pleasure in life for me – a pot of tea and books (and a comfortable chair). Definitely my zen moment! The zucchini bread was quite delicious and I was able to freeze the second loaf to enjoy later 🙂
