(I am interrupting my planned post to share someone really exciting that arrived in the mail.)

Yes, I am a Monster. Literally. A Beastie Monster!

Blogging for the past 4.5 years has given me the opportunity to connect with people all over the world. I actually now have readers in every continent except Antarctica (hey Antarctica blogger peeps where are ya?).

I have many blogging buddies in the U.K. including the awesome person who made me into a Monster – Helen of Crawcrafts Beasties (crawcraftsbeasties.com) in Dublin, Ireland. Helen makes amazing custom knitted monsters (the cutest monsters ever) known as “Beasties”.

After following her blog for a while and following the adventures of various Beasties, especially Paddy & Plunkett, I knew I needed my own tierneycreates Beastie.

Monday’s postal delivery brought the tierneycreates Beastie all the way from Ireland!

And here is my dreadlocked tierneycreates Beastie, with her little knitted hat and her miniature schnauzer:

She is approximately 6 inches tall, nearly 6.5 inches with her hair and hat!

The tierneycreates Beastie has some serious dreadlocks, very creatively done with wool:

She also has a nifty QUILTED BAG with her laptop (so she is ready for blogging) and Beastie Library card inside (because if you have followed my blog for more than a couple weeks you know about my love of my local public library!):

Her miniature schnauzer “Mikelet” (the tiny version of Mike) is ready for his walk:

In addition to her adorable boots, the tierneycreates Beastie also has for colder weather a little hand knit cable Irish Aran sweater!

I must have giggled for an hour after opening the package on Monday not to mention the time playing with her and arranging her in various poses:

She is ready for her first outing: a trip to my public library to try out her library card (hopefully the bar code on her library card works).

    1. Oh yes Mike is kind a naughty when it comes to stuffed animals and that’s why he doesn’t have any stuffed animal toys – so I don’t think they’ll be meeting😀

  5. I chuckled all the way through this post. Helen of CrawCraft Beasties is a superb crafter with a wonderful sense of humour and you have done her proud with your photographs and descriptions. Mikelet, the miniature schnauzer, has stolen my heart. Hope he enjoyed his trip to the library.

  7. Oh this is just delightful! I keep scrolling through the pictures, enjoying all the fine details in this Tierney Beastie! The laptop bag, the laptop and the library card are just so…you! And Mikelet….he is just so precious as a Beastie accessory! And let’s just say the shoes are amazing because we all know how important shoes are to any ensemble, including Beastie ensembles! I will be re-looking at this all day, it’s so so adorable!!!!!

  11. She definitely captured you! This is adorable!
    When I was teaching, I established having a Monster Month in October. The students made a monster friend out of socks, cereal boxes, and so many other things. We wrote adventure stories all month. Mine was a sock monster named Bartholomew, the Book Monster.

  13. OMG! It really is YOU!!! The resemblance is uncanny. I dare you to try to use her for your next driver’s license photo. I am a little jealous though that you got the very very first Beastie Library card. Have fun with your little monster (Helen did warn you of how time-consuming their upkeep can be, right?).

    1. Helen did not warn me about the expense of upkeep (but now that I think about it, the requirement that I eventually take her to Ireland to visit her homeland could get expensive!) but I am glad to join the Beasties Family – we are fellow Monsters 🙂

  14. How very clever! Thanks for sharing all the details, especially the planning stages and choices you got to make. I’m so glad to know about Helen of Crawcrafts Beasties from Ireland! The tiny library card is really over the top. And a little Mikelet–too bad the real Mike would devour him. Enjoy your Beastie adventures. This might be something like Flat Stanley being photographed everywhere. You can keep us posted on Beastie’s travels.

    1. Thanks Martha, I think so too! The tiny library card is just too cute and it was Helen’s idea. Oh yes I remember the Flat Stanley stuff. We’ll see how silly I make myself look as I try to photography my tierneycreates Beastie’s adventures! 🙂

  15. LOVE this! Of course the library card immediately caught my attention but at first I thought it was a library book. I love all the details that were so thoughtfully put into your likes and interests…and of course Mike!

    I can tell you had so much fun with this. Now to get a TTQH Beastie…

    1. I know the library card – too sweet! She put a lot of thoughtful details and she came up with the original concept by herself based on reading my blog! Oh yes I need a TTQH Beastie, maybe for our anniversary or something.

  20. Ohmigoodness! I absolutely adore Tierneycreates Beastie! (I so love it when some of my favourite things come together!). Tierney Beastie has all the charm of her human counterpart, too. 😀 And, I’m glad to see that she is ready for some quality library / blogging time and for a stroll with Mike! (I enjoyed her library card-scanning shenanigans on Instagram, lol. I can very much understand her hurry to surround herself with books, though!).The quilted bag is amazing as are the woolen dreads. I wish Tierney Beastie many, many fun adventures in the stacks and beyond in the coming time!

Tierney, thanks so SO much for your order, and for this excellent post introducing tierneycreates Beastie! I’ve also just spent the nicest time reading through all the lovely comments from your regular readers – thanks to all of you for your kind words! I can see that the Oregon branch of the worldwide Beastie family is in good hands (or paws) with you and Tammie taking care of it, and I can’t wait to read your library post! Also, don’t worry about looking silly when you take pictures… With practice, you develop a certain ninja stealthiness that helps with evading the attentions of museum attendants and passers by!
