Updated Tour of the tierneycreates Studio

Recently I mentioned in the post New Use for the “Big Closet” , that I moved my fabric storage out of a closet and into my studio (so I could easily see what I have in my fabric stash and “shop at home”!). I thought I’d share the latest set up of my tierneycreates studio which is our former Master Bedroom that we turned into my studio in 2022 (see post A “New” Studio).

Here is the view when you first walk into the studio:

Here you can see my obsession with color and Aurifil thread (the color chart mounted on the wall is the Aurifil palette/catalogue):

If you are new to this blog and curious about that color wheel quilt I made, here is a blog post on it – The Colour Wheel Quilt is Done.

Here is my fat quarter and fabric scrap storage area:

Ironing station, cutting table and pegboard storage area:

Here is where I am storing my fabric, sorted by either designer or type (including solid colors, batik, etc.):

Here is my sewing table:

I probably should have turned on the light above for better lighting of the image but you get the general idea.

And here is the design wall:

Right now the room is carpeted, because it used to be a bedroom, and the plan in 2024 is to remove the carpet and install hardwood floors. I am also thinking of painting it a white or cream to brighten/improve light reflection.

So that’s the current tour of my studio!

  1. I love
    Awesome

this arvo I took everything up off the floor, where I currently do most of my creativity – I’ve a single bed sheet folded in half which is supposed to represent the “work table” but I then seem to have extra boxes etc all around the edges and I end up in a horseshoe type space.

anyway I’m going out of town tomorrow and i wanted to tidy up, but not so I “couldn’t find anything when I get back” – the floor is like a dance floor tonight

  2. It always entertains me to look at other people’s workspaces and the similarities that practical use creates. Shelves with boxes or baskets of scraps. Pegboards for rulers and scissors. Tools laid out beside machines… The arrangement varies, but the elements are the same. Are you left handed? Your irons are on the left, as are the tools beside your sewing machine.

  3. The color wheel is very cool. So . . . when are you starting your podcast in that fancy studio😊? Its clearly ready for primetime. You are going to need a theme song. Now will you and your guest be sitting at the sewing table or the cutting table. We need titles. Its Sew Easy is already taken so we have to be even more clever. My people will call your people.

But seriously, how did you get to this level of organization?
