While on a recent California road trip with friends we stopped in Loomis, California to see the Loomis Quilt & Fiber Guild Quilt Show in which one of my friends is a member.

For those of you who quilt, I thought you might like to see a sampling of some of the quilt in the show. I had a fun time wandering around the show and stopping at the vendor booths (I was well behaved and did not buy anything). Oh it was crowded so I had to work around people to take photos so they are not at the best angle…
I got a kick out this “postage stamp” style traditional quilt but with a kitty hanging from it (see red arrow):

I liked this quilt with Tim Holtz fabric – not a complex pattern but the fabric really makes the quilt spectacular:

I totally loved this Elizabeth Hartman pattern quilt!

And here is one of the quilts my friend who is a guild member, had in the show:

The also had a display of quilted garments and this quilt dog jacket made me smile:

Stopping at a quilt show was a great way to kick off our California roadtrip!

I lived in Loomis many, many, many years ago. These quilts are amazing and congratulations to your friend for getting her piece in the show.
That dog jacket is darling. I love the colors and patterns in your first two photos. I’ve know you must be having a blast.

The dog jacket made me smile but I would be a little anxious over the dog getting it dirty after all that work ha!
Funny I was in your old town! 😀

It was fun to see and appreciate some traditional quilts and take a break from being a sort of art quilt snob lol

By coincidence the guild in our area is doing their every other year show next weekend. I am looking forward to going. It’s mostly traditional but also some art quilting and we enjoyed it when we went 2 years ago.

Beautiful pieces. Funny that I never stopped in Loomis although I have seen the sign many times pointing to it.

I think it’s one of those town you have to have a specific reason to go to as there are so many other awesome towns in the Sac/Northern CA/Bay Area to visit 🙂
