It’s been a long time since I’ve added a post to my blog category Life in B&W where I let my inner Ansel Adams run free (smile). So it was time to share some of the Black & White photos I took while recently visiting the Oregon Coast. I’ll tell you more about the trip in a future post, but for now here are photos from our visit to Yaquina Bay State Park in Newport, Oregon and the Yaquina Head Lighthouse:
While at the state park beach area we enjoyed looking for life in the tide pools (the tide was low), a visiting with a park ranger who gave us a great overview, looking at large rocks covered with endless mussels, and trying to carefully walk on the rocks on the beach near the tide pools (the beach is entirely made of black basaltic rocks) without wiping out on Cobble Beach!
If you’d like to see more and see some of what we saw but in actual color, here is a video I found on YouTube:

I love tide pools so much. I once watched hermit crabs fighting for what felt like an hour. All the tiny lives, it’s so fascinating.
Your photos are great, so atmospheric.

Thanks so much and although there weren’t many critters in the tide pools they were awesome and kind of mysterious in person!

These are so gorgeous! I’ve loved lighthouses since the first time I saw A Summer’s Place. I still dream of going to Maine in mid-Fall when the maple leaves change.

Ha! Tierney Ansel! I was a geeky child and I had an Ansel Adams poster on my teenager room wall instead of some teen idol boy!

I dearly love a lighthouse, so thank you for the small ‘fix’! Also, living in the tropics and in the lee of the Great Barrier Reef, we don’t have a lot of rocky shoreline, mostly a lot of wide, shallow beaches, so seeing the cliffs was fun too, and reminded me of former homes.

Thanks for stopping by, I would like to do a whole lighthouse coastal tour and see all the lighthouses on the Pacific coast of the US!
You do live in an amazing part of the world, I would love to see the GBR someday! 🙂

the b&W images really highlight details in a special way.
love the couple shot (and smiles of joy) and also that sign was so good – about how plants die by the foot! we need more of those signs around various areas
