I know we are still a couple weeks out from Halloween but I was walking Mike this morning (more on that later) and discovered a house in my neighborhood that is winning Halloween in my opinion! Here are the photos which of course do not do their whole spooky vibe justice:
Can you imagine being a 6-year old kid on Halloween and your parents are trying to convince you to go up to that front door and ask for candy!?!? I would be like “H*ll to the No” (why yes, I would be swearing as a 6-year old kid if asked to go up to that front door – ha!).

The family that owns this house has likely spent thousands of dollars on Halloween and clearly loves this holiday! The decorations are HUGE and very high quality, nearly (low budget) movie set quality on some pieces (like I said, the photos do not do it justice).
So earlier in this post I mentioned I was walking Mike. Some of you might remember in January 2023 I had a terrible twist/fall on ice and broke my left ankle in two places requiring surgery for my complex fracture. It’s been a long road to recovery but I am now regularly walking Mike again and able to go on long-ish walks. I am so grateful as it was the first time in my adult life (January to April 2023) that I could not go on daily walks. It was a rough time mentally, physically and even “spiritually” for me – going on daily walks is everything to me.
I’ll write more about Halloween later in this month, I’ve been thinking about some sweet memories from life in Oregon related to Halloween and will share in another post.

Well I definitely wouldn’t want to go up their path in the dark lol.

I agree! It gave me chills during the day (and it was an overcast day which added to the spookiness) 🙂

I wonder if the Amazon and UPS drivers are brave enough to leave their packages, but once they do, I bet no porch pirates swoop in!

Ha! When I was taking photos I hadn’t yet seen the entryway greeters yet. When I noticed them I was startled for a moment (I think Mike my dog jumped too) 🙂

Who on earth has the space to store this stuff for another 11 months of the year…? Halloween isn’t nearly as big here as it is in the US, so I find the whole massive decorations thing a bit disconcerting anyway, but if you’re going to do it, I agree this is an outstanding result! I hope they’re not distractingly close to a major road…

Ha! I was thinking the same thing! They must have a special section of their basement for it! They are only near a minor road so not too much driver distraction will occur, only walker distraction like happened to me 😉

Glad that your ankle recovered, and you are able to take walks. I find that the halloween decorations scare me. I dont like them in the store because they are motion sensitive, so they get animated when walking by. Last thing I need is to be scared and have to run out of the store.

Thanks on the ankle I am much happier being mobile!
I love scary movies, except for gruesome slasher movies but I can’t stand Halloween decorations for some reason!
Hope you do not run out of too many store this season!

Yeah! So glad to hear you are back walking. I’m sure Mike is grateful to make that part of his daily routine again. How does Mike do with the decorations? Ask gives them a share eye. Summer thinks they are alive and hackles and often growls.

Thanks so much I am very grateful that I am! Mike was a little startled but then ignore the decorations. I guess as long as they are not moving towards him he is okay 🙂

Remarkable statues. Mind boggling in fact. At least they will save a bit on candy for the children!

Yes, ha! I suspect some children will not be willing to venture to the front door for candy! 🙂

Great you’re walking again. I’m sure Mike is pleased too. I’m assuming they have a lockup to store all this. Must be a bit spooky to get them all out each year. I wonder what they do for Christmas? Over here if people go all out they tend to have charity collection boxes outside too which is nice.

I am so grateful to be doing that 🙂
I cannot imagine where they store those large pieces perhaps they have offsite storage they pay for!
That is nice to have a charity collection box if people are enjoying the decorations – great idea for a little fundraiser. I will see what the house does at Christmas
