Guest Blog Post: Progress on “My Blanket”

This is Mike, the Miniature Schnauzer that lives with Tierney and John. If you are new to this blog I guest blog post time to time.

Tierney has been doing something weird the past month or so and only posting to this blog once a week. I am trying to work with her to increase her frequency. She went from torturing you all to daily posts in the month of October, this blog’s 10th anniversary, to BOOM once a week posts.

So I had to step in and blog about the progress on “my blanket”.

My writing station at “my blanket” in progress

Tierney previous posted her progress on this blanket these post Update on Various Projects and 2023 Recap: A Year in “Makes” and WIPs Going Forward, but she has made quite a bit of progress since these posts – she now has 5 rows of 8 granny squares joined:

Look at all the progress I’ve encouraged her to make!

In case you are wondering why I refer to it as “my blanket” – isn’t it obvious she is making it for me when it coordinates with my fur so wonderfully?

Try not to become overwhelmed with my cuteness

She has 5 more rows of 8 blocks to join to it to make it an 8 by 10, 80 block blanket. But at this point it is sufficient enough for me to snuggle under. For some reason she wants to keep working on it.

I’ve caught her cuddling under it while working on it and she even wrangled it into the car when John is driving to work on.

Here she is working on it while in the back seat when we had a holiday visitor; and I am trying to snuggle in it too:

It should be covering me but she said that won’t work while she is crocheting

Well hopefully it will be done soon.

That’s the end of my guest post and I am going to return to guarding the house from my sunny guard post on the upstairs guest bed surrounded by my natural habitats: blankets (fleece!) and quilts.

  1. Aw Mike, you look very handsome on your blanket, that matches your furs so nicely. I will enjoy watching the progress on your blanket. Wilbs (my cat) has the same problem with me and my blogging lately. I hope to hear more from you in future posts!

  2. Hello Mike my old mate, Higgins here. I’m glad you are taking your Staff in hand and keeping her up to scratch. It’s all too easy for Staffs to run amok and think they’re in charge or some other ludicrous idea. That blankie of yours is coming along nicely and I do admire the elegant and tastefully blending colour scheme you chose, very Schnazzy indeed! I’m glad you have access to comfy bedding; Mum keeps me off some of her quilts because she says I have such strong nails that I’ll pop the hand quilting, but others are fair game. I suppose I can tolerate that, but it borders on insubordination, don’t you think…?

  3. Mike, the miniature schnauzer, you have me laughing at your antics. The blanket really does match your aesthetic. Thank you for stepping in and saving Tierney’s blog today. We know she is busy creating and needs some time off. Keep up the good work protecting everyone. 🙂

  4. Mike, I’m with you. That blanket should be rightfully yours. I’m glad T shared it in the back seat of the car, but I get her point, too: it’s hard to work on a blanket when it’s in use. I’m sure they both appreciate your guard dog duties, and lucky you that you can hold sentry from a soft, warm place. I suspect you run the place.

  5. Mike, You are such a wonderful encourager. What would Tierney or John every get accomplished without you cheering them along. Tierney might just need to crochet you a matching sweater.

      1. Mike is in good company. Adi hates to be outfitted as well. When our girls were younger, they would “dress” her up. She would dutifully cooperate, but oh she would get the most pathetic expression.

  6. Heart warming! Glad to see Mike enjoying the blanket in progress. I love that about granny squares: once the squares start coming together, you get a whole series of mini blankets up to the finished work! Enjoy, and great post. 🙂
