Here is a follow up to the post I Started a New Hat from early January 2026.
Since snow is now here in Colorado, I figured to was time to finish the hat I started knitting at the end of 2025.
Here is John modeling the hat at my favorite part of hat knitting: the double pointed needles to finish the crown:

And here I am wearing the finished hat; and then an image of the top of the hat (I love the swirl that decreasing the stitches for the crown makes):
Yes I am snuggled in the Sunflower Granny Square blanket I finished last year (Sunflower Granny Square Blanket Assembled (and Holiday Decorating)) as it was pretty cold in Denver (a little blizzard occurred while we were watching the Denver Broncos football team lose the semi-finals).
So I kept the finished hat on after I took the photo and snuggled under my sunflower blanket!

Love it and hope its nice and warm with the winter weather you are having

That hat looks perfect for snuggling down in, as does your sunflower blanket. John did a great modelling job…was he a supermodel in a past life?11

It is so soft! It was a very lucky thrifting to discover that yarn – I think it was like $1 for the skein! You made John laugh – no I don’t think his software engineer career had any time for modeling except modeling computer software models, ha!

It is okay, with our dear quarterback out with his ankle injury it would have been a miracle if they even got to the SuperB. We are proud of what they accomplished this season coming from being like one of the worse teams a couple years ago!

Yes, this is a good way to look at it – but – well – um , go Hawks I guess

Yes since I lived in the Pacific NW for 23 years I probably should root for them now, ha!

You’re adorable and so are your creations. We watched that game. The weather was something else.

Thanks so much I really appreciate that. Oh yes – we got to watch the weather on the TV during the game AND outside our windows – ha! It was crazy 🙂

I love the swirly top, too – never noticed it till now. BTW: I’m okay with our Broncos loss…given the changed circumstances of our quarterback who plowed through the season with much support from defense and stalwart offense…After all, The New England Patriots and Denver Broncos are tied for the most Super Bowl losses by a team and I just couldn’t stomach a rematch with us ‘weakened’ and possibly breaking that record of losses! 😉

We figured its good they didn’t win as the Seahawks would have slaughtered them in the SuperB. Our Broncos offense has a lot to work on in the post season, ha! Plus our beloved Bo Nix had a boo-boo – so he will be healed for next season 🙂
Thanks so much on the hat and it was actually the first time I stopped and really appreciated the swirly top – probably because it was so noticeable in my first light yarn hat!

I wish I knew how to crochet, that is just one skill I can’t get. Love the hat. I have one that has red, purple and white in it that I bought, It is so warm. One more icy snowed in day they are telling us here in Northwest Arkansas.

Oh the magic of YouTube! My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was young but then I eventually forgot. YouTube taught me how to crochet again 🙂
I learned how to knit from a neighbor who taught me that hat pattern and someday I need to try another pattern. Thanks for stopping by!

Well done!
I love knitwear. I actually have an honours degree in Knit Design and Technology. LOL – A remote degree that I wasn’t really able to capitalize on, but it did come in handy a lot in my career as a Costume Designer in film.
Thank you for sharing!

Hello, thanks so much for stopping by my blog and commenting on my post 🙂
I am amazed there is a degree in Knit Design and Technology – that is very awesome!

It’s an odd degree to have. For those of us who knit it’s like – YAY.
To everyone else it’s like – Why? 🕊
