All the Sunflower GS Blocks are Together!
Ok here is an update on the post Big Progress on the Sunflower Granny Square Blanket and Pumpkin Muffins.
I made big progress and got the whole Sunflower themed Granny Square blanket all attached (horizontal and vertical) using a single crochet stitch to join the squares in both directions.
Here it is on the “Design Carpet”:

Here is another photo:

Now I am adding a single crochet border around the whole thing, likely several rows of single crochet, I’ll decide as I go along.
And then it will be time to weave in all the thread tails that are hiding in the back!
Oh I did try to make finishing the granny square blanket a portable project on like to I did with the individual granny squares, where I would work on them while riding in the car…

But it was a disaster and we had the “Great Hunt for the Lost Crochet Hook” in the car as well yarn tangling and blanket in my feet tangling disasters. So I had to finish it in my living room sitting in a chair to limit the drama – ha!
House Holiday Decorating
After I got the blanket assembled I felt very industrious and with the help of John got the Christmas tree up and the fireplace mantle decorated for the holidays!
It was fun to pull out our ornaments and various decorations and see them again! I missed these three holiday bears that I’ve had for over 25 years – they’ve held up pretty well:

I also put up this copy of The Night Before Christmas that John has had since he was a child.

The pages are on the verge of falling apart but I like reread it every year.

Everything – looking good! Happy holidays at your house all right, I love it. The afghan looks wonderful; having the whole effect of all those sunflowers before me, making me smile!

Thanks so much and not only is it cute I discovered the sunflower GS blanket is pretty warm too as I have it over my lap while I add the border 🙂

It will look cozy and lovely in your room! So many friends have their Christmas trees and decor up already. I need to get my wiggle on and get mine up!

Thanks so much I appreciate that!
We had friends from out of town visiting this weekend so I was motivated to get the house holiday decorated and look like I had my act together – ha! Normally I wouldn’t have put it up this early 🙂

Hi T, wow, my husband also has his copy of The Night Before Christmas – and it is in a worn state, but we treasure it.
I like those three bears that have been with you for 25+ years. We just took down our ornament bin – it gets smaller every year and we went fromt wo bins to now one that is 3/4 full. And I have a small bear from 1993, given to me by roommate, K, and I am amazed at how well it has held up.
Also, had to smile with the car drama with the quilt and glad you were able to finish it at home and find the needle!

That is awesome he has one too! I hope it stays together to display for many years to come, I try to handle it carefully. We did downsize our ornaments but more seemed to join us – ha! That is amazing you still have a little bear from 1993!

I have a few other ornaments from 1993 and do not plan on getting rid of any more – because isn’t it like a little memory lane stroll when we see these keepsakes each year? so special.
Also, I think I have some knitted ornaments still, from Grandma Louise – I will share a photo if I still have them

What a cheerful blanket! (And it actually is a blanket, not a quilt called a blanket by the unknowing–ha!) Looks like you enjoy your decorating!

Thanks so much I am enjoying looking at it as I put the border on. I didn’t use to enjoy it a couple years ago because that big life change I had in 2018 occurred 12 days before Xmas but over the years I have learned to embrace enjoying Christmas decorating again 🙂

The blanket is gorgeous! Good luck with the border and the ends, it is a pain but will be so good to be all done! I love the re-appearance of special Christmas decorations.

You finished it and it’s stunning Every story needs a bit of drama, but better to lose or misplace a crochet hook and not a key component of your work.
I also enjoy revisiting ornaments each year, many from our travels. Your tree is beautifully dressed.
I’m glad you’re settling in to winter at home, with a year full of travel memories for company.

Thanks so much and John had pulled the car over to the side of the road to help me find it as I do love to crochet while driving!
