Hello, it’s the 15th of the month I’ve rejoined the monthly ScrapHappy posting group hosted by Kate of Tall Tales From Chiconia.
Here are links to the blogs of the ScrapHappy participants:

Life is currently crazy and filled with lots of boxes (see post How Did We Get Here? ) but I do have an update on the scrappy English Paper Piecing (EPP) hexie rosette project I’ve been working on since 2016 that I previously posted about in this post – ScrapHappy January 2026: Moving Forward on the Hexie Project .
In the January 15th 2026 ScrapyHappy post I shared this progress – 9 scrappy EPP flowers machine appliquéd to 6.5 inch by 6.5 inch scrap denim backgrounds:

I made some great progress since then and I now have 37 EPP flowers machine appliquéd to scrap denim:

I’ve developed a rhythm to my machine appliqué of the flowers onto the denim and it’s now so cumbersome now to do it.

I stitch them on a slightly larger than 6.5 inch by 6.5 inch square and then trim to size after I stitch them onto the scrap denim.
Only 62 more blocks to make of the 99 EPP flowers I’ve created.

Just a little follow up to my previous post – How Did We Get Here?
The house is currently in such chaos I needed a calm place in which I could blog and sew if I wanted until we get closer to our move date in early March. John came up with the idea of moving a table into our bedroom in front of the window and setting up my laptop and my sewing machine.

We also set up an area in our bedroom where I could sit and stitch on the quilt I am hand quilting (Hand Quilting “Go Boldly”) or read a book…or just enjoy an escape from boxes…

So now I have a place to escape the madness in the rest of house and write or create (even if most of my stuff is packed up now).
Good hubby to create a calm space for you. I can’t imagine the chaos of moving which is why I told my hubby 33 years ago that I would be buried from the current house we are in. We shall see. Life changes things. 🙂

Thanks and I appreciate it so much! Yesterday I took the day off and enjoyed the calm space doing some sewing, etc. The new house will be our forever house. We really needed to sell our existing house to a family it is too big for us and it is made for family living.
It will be very hard to get me to ever move again after this move I totally understand your sentiment 🙂

Whoa – early March?! Good to have a serenity spot available for sure. How are you guys handling the hanging artwork – storage and then repair to walls? Just wondering out loud – if it’s a stressful question, zone out in your serenity spot and forget I asked!

We are doing the repairs ourselves and then having professional painters come to paint the walls. We have all our hanging artwork down and stacked (we are transporting the artwork and quilts in our cars not to be touched by the mover) 🙂

Thanks for the info. Wise move on the artwork/quilts (hope the pun put a brief smile on your face).

Looking good on the hexies. And continued best wishes on the move. It nice to have an oasis of peace to retreat into at such a time.

I can’t even think about moving without getting hysterical! Happy to see you have a peaceful place to stitch in. Good luck with the packing and the move. Stitch on, stitch on – those next 62 squares are going to take some time.

I thought the same thing until we somehow decided to do this craziness, ha! Thanks so much and I hope I get a chance to work on more squares before the 15th of March! 🙂

Those hexies are so deliciously vibrant! And a great project to be able to just pick up and put down easily. i am glad you have been able to find a little space for yourself amongst the boxes. Remember…it will all be over soon!

I don’t envy you but it will be worth it once you move in and unpack. It’s nice you have a place to unwind. I hope I don’t ever move again. Since I left my childhood home, I have only lived in 3 places and I’m old! Lol How nice you are working on the flower scrap quilt again, it is so pretty!

Yes no envy for me right now, ha! I think if you are bad in life and go to the underworld when you pass, you have to pack everyday – ha!

Well done on making progress on your flower garden quilt in the midst of the packing chaos. It’s looking lovely. The denim background to the bright hexi flowers is a brilliant move

That’s so kind and thoughtful and necessary to dedicate a small corner outside of the chaos for you!
