This post is an update to the August 10th post Very Good Progress on the EPP Quilt on the English Paper Piecing (EPP) hexagon quilt I begin in 2016 and am still working on finishing in 2026 (I mere 10 years…perhaps not the speediest quilt completion…). The quilt is composed of 99 blocks and was inspired by the cover for the first issue of Quiltfolk Magazine (Issue 1: Oregon):

SO HERE IS THE BIG NEWS: I FINISHED ALL 99 BLOCKS!!!!
HAPPY DANCE!!!
Did you get up from your seated positions and dance along with me?!?!
Here are all 99 blocks – the scrappy hexagon rosettes appliqued on to scrap denim:

I had 98 blocks done and I remembered I had to one from scratch to make 99, because I’d lost one while traveling (I learned they did not make a good traveling project), So in the “eleventh hour” I had to pull out my EPP paper and paper piece six little hexagons (lucky I had one spare random hexagon and didn’t have to piece 7!) and sew them into a rosette (ugh).

But now all the blocks a done and I can start sewing the quilt blocks together and get them off the longarn quilter!!!
Okay, back to dancing…

happy dance for sure! And what’s next? 😉

Thanks so much and I guess what’s next is joining the blocks together lol, but if you’re asking about my next project, I only have about 15 in mind to choose from😂😂😂

Yay! It really is going to be a special quilt. In a time when instant gratification is prevalent, it’s nice to be able to appreciate the things that take time and perseverance. Even better when made by our own hands.

Happy Dance and Dance of Joy (remember Belki on that show “Perfect Strangers”?) This is a huge (literally and figuratively) quilt block finish, Tierney!

What a fabulously fantastic project – and you stuck with it for a decade! You’re at the point where I’d now give up (I’d enjoy piecing the hexagons and desperately want to avoid trying to machine squares together accurately!!😂.) Well done getting through the part you didn’t find fun and now you get the thrill of sewing it all together and enjoying the finished quilt.
